Taking Care of Business - North by North - Our individual  & group responsibilities 

We all have our own specialisms, not only when it comes to design thinking and production. But when it comes to more contextual aspects like research, some people are good with numbers, others good with business thinking, others good with use of language.

Assignments

We split the startup planning into main sections and assignments based on the groups specialisms:

Joe Auckland is excellent with numbers and we both have quite an interest in business aspects. Joe's focus is on Financial details:

Costings of equipment, expendables, monthly outgoings, startup costs, insurances, software etc. 

Startup costs & Help available like government grants & Loans.

Business types; Limited company, Private limited company, Unlimited liability, Limited liability, Sole 

trading, Partnerships, Unlimited companies and Public limited companies. 

I will be focusing on compiling together a an informed and detailed business plan that will provide us with good reference for the Pitch we present, I will focus on these areas: 

Expand on the points we made in the initial pitch to John in the beginning stages of the project. 

Look into our aims and the future of the business. 

What our company is/offers, why were starting up, what kind of studio are we?

Whats our informed and refined USP?

Name choice and explanation?

Collaborate with Joe on location choice. 

Target market and why/how we will appeal to them?

Elliot Brodowski & Neil Ghilchrist will be focusing on logo design, branding and creating a basic website for a web presence to expand our recognition.

Neil Ghilchrist will also be looking into possible promotion of the services, things like social media, online portfolios, websites and advertising material are all good methods but what other options are they. 

As a group we will compile the content together to create a well informed pitch, we will also create a small bio of ourselves to support our web presence and describe our individual contributions to the multi disciplinary design agency we are starting. 

We will all look at some studios and designers that we see as similar and competitive, picking points from each to help us create a creative company that can complete with them.
