International studio - Sweden - Bedow, Tomorrow Machine, Snask, Böfüms and Research and Development studio

International studio - Sweden - Bedow, Tomorrow Machine, Snask, Böfüms and Research and Development studio

I chose a number of Swedish design studios to look at not only to learn from there creative practice and how there business operates to influence my own practice but for my love of functional and clean Swedish design and the beautiful country itself. I would love to open my own studio over there.

Bedow
Founded in 2005 Bedow run there studio from Stockholm and create work for a variety of audiences and clients but there success and popularity means there privileged enough to carry out work that interests them through there focus on working for cultural organizations. It would be nice to have this creative freedom in the future.

They have a huge list of features on blogs, magazines, journals and awards to back up there success.

The presentation of there work really supports the functional and concise presentation of concepts, these guidelines are something I want to include in my online presence particularly my Behance portfolio, it provides a visual reference for the textual explanation of the work strengthening the overall presentation and promotion of the concepts and visuals on offer.

Tomorrow machine
Although not a typical branding or design agency Tomorrow machines focus on sustainability and the future of package design, and food concepts in an ethical and sustainable view is inspiring, with the progression of technologies and advanced materials this agency create work that not only is contemporary and modern in its aesthetic but does genuine good for the target market its created for.

Learning how to use advanced technologies, process's and materials will help me create a brand identity that really strengthens the idea of concept & multi discipline driven branding but in a tone of voice that suggests consideration to the future placing my brand identity into a specific ethical discipline.

Snask
Snask was an obvious one when it came to looking at Scandinavian design within Sweden but there success is something I can learn from and understanding there reason for success starts with analyzing there practice, how they operate and the work they produce.

There focus on Branding & Design which explores physical craft both modern and traditional, moving image and film , resonates well with there manifesto that suggests that they "strive to challenge the industry by doing things differently" they "worship unconventional ideas" and see the "old conservative world as tedious and our biggest enemy". Whatever process they choose its clear from there work that they like to alter how things are commonly done and really inject there unique aesthetic and way of approaching concepts that I personally cant put down to a particular methodology or design process. This is what makes them so unique everything they create breaks boundaries and creates huge impact regardless of intended audiences.

Böfüms
Interactivity within physical touch points both tactile and digital is important when it comes to creating a memorable brand, Böfüms explores interactivity within everything they do, from digital to print and physical outcomes.

There website resonates well with this interactivity with lots of moving image and a continuous scroll of all there work with category tabs for the work at the site to aid more functional and precise navigation, having a site that is both functional yet memorable is an important consideration for my web presence.

Interactivity can come in the subtlest examples, the straps on this book are both functional and support the idea of movement and support of structures through tactile interactions.

Interaction within the beer label, analogue typography adds a whole new asthetic and strengthens the idea of craft beer and individuality of each bottle.

Research and Development
As mentioned previously a name choice within a brand is very important when it comes to summing up the services and the purpose of the business. So when it comes to a creative business thats main job is to solve problems through visual responses the client wants to know there having work created for them that meets all of there needs.

This is why I think Research and Developments works so well as it suggests they take a great deal of consideration to fully understanding the problem at hand before thorough investigation to produce a well informed outcome which is obvious within there diverse portfolio of work that explores photography, illustration, publication and brand collateral both print and digital.
